Corel Draw Tips
Which print stock should I use

If you draw a box and then click inside it with the arrow selector tool and the box gets selected then you have got the option of “treat all objects as filled” turned on. The program is defaulted that way. This is really annoying when you have other things in the box. It can however be turned off easily. This is probably the best Corel tip you’ll ever get.
From the pull down window called <Tools> select <options> then double click on the <toolbox>. Select <pick tool> . Uncheck the option that says <Treat all objects as filled> Corel Draw will become much nicer to use.

Select text with the ‘Node tool’   and then drag the arrow at the bottom right corner. It will space the letters out to spread the word across the page. Try dragging the arrow down on the bottom left of the text block and you’ll get line spacing change. Now try clicking onto one of the boxes that have appeared under each letter. When it’s selected it becomes black and you can change the font or size of the individual letter. You can also move the lettter wherever you want.

Did you know that you can centre selected items simply by pressing the “E” key on your keyboard. You don’t have to go to the menu’s to centre. Try it out. Select a few object or lines of text and hit the ‘E’ button. Think that's good? Try pressing these buttons as well and see what you get. ‘L’, ‘R’, ‘B’, ’T’. I’ve been using Corel for 10 Years and I just learnt these tips from the new Corel Applied CD’s.

If you want to group items on your screen; select the items and press CTRL-G at the same time. To ungroup the items press CTRL-U. There are ‘Macros’ like this right throughout CorelDRAW. By learning these macros you’ll get faster at Corel. When you select a drop down menu the macro is usually displayed next to the menu item. Have a look at File/save...you’ll see CTRL-S next to the word save. Make it a habit to learn this one and CTRL-S regularly to make sure you don’t loose your work.

Are you backing up your data. If you aren't then you are playing Russian roulette with your lively-hood. A reputable business in our industry just lost 5 years worth of logos, job lay outs, invoicing etc etc. Can you imagine the state you’d be in if this happened to you. Can you imagine the cost in time and money if this happened to you. Can you imagine the embaracement of having to ask all customers for their logo again. Crickies!!!!! BACK UP YOU DATA OR ELSE!!!!!!!!!! Call your IT company now and work out whats best for you
.
