Printing your Artwork
Which print stock should I use

You can use a variety of printing processes to print your artwork in perpetration for exposure to photo polymer resist. You can choose between Laser and Ink Jet Printers by using the correct graphic paper. Lets go through the variety of printing combinations available.

Laser Printing:
Laser Printers are the most economical to use as the toner costs far less than expensive Ink Jet and If you are using SR3000 you will have no problem using Vellum paper in a Laser Printer, which is the cheapest combination for printing.

UV Stable Vellum Paper:
Ideal for low priced printing. The paper looks like tracing paper. The stock we sell is ‘Legal’ size and fits perfectly with our 35cm wide rolls of SR3000 resist making it efficient and very cost effective. You get a good result in exposure with this and we recommend it for most of your work. The Vellum we sell is U.V stable. This means the light travels evenly through the paper making exposure consistent. There is some Vellum paper on the market not designed to be U.V. stable

Laser Film: When you have an extremely fine detail piece of artwork or a half tone Image you get a great result from using this printing film. The Laser film being a plastic film attracts more toner to the area making it darker hence allowing less light through. You could use this with artwork that has a mass of fine detail lines or even half tone images.

Ink Jet Printing:
I This is an option to consider if you already have an Ink Jet printer. It works very well using special Ink Jet Film. The problem is that the film is very expensive and this adds up. Whilst it produces great artwork it increases your cost considerably and the Vellum through a Laser works great with SR3000.

Ink Jet Film: Whilst much more expensive than the Laser printer materials, Ink Jet Film gives a superior result. It is great for very fine detail work or half tones. The superior black image is not really necessary when you are doing general work.

So why is a Laser Printer better to use than an Ink Jet printer?
In terms of cost Laser Printer are much cheaper to run. Ink Jet ink is very expensive and you seem to go through it quickly (especially if you are using it for art work)Laser Printers use toner which is much cheaper than Ink Jet ink and you can use cheaper printing materials to print your artwork onto. Also when using SR3000 Laser Printed Vellum does a great job especially when it’s sprayed with our Krystal Kote art spray. So basically there’s no real need to use an Ink Jet Printer. This does not take away from the fact that Ink Jets with Ink jet Film definitely does give a superior result to Lasers. It just depends on your attitude towards the cost.
