SR3000(tm) SELF-STICK PHOTO RESIST FILM
- HOW IT WORKS
SR3000(tm) is an advanced version of SR2000(tm). It has the
same basic photopolymer properties with a new process that
gives the surface layer an inherent tack once developed. This
is NOT a self-adhesive film. That means there is no need to
apply adhesive and there are no complicated handling issues
common with other "self-adhesive" products. Simply
wash it out. Once dry you will detect a slight tack. Apply
the film to your etching product as usual and blast. SR3000(tm)
will not come off until you want it too if you follow the
process correctly.
SR3000(tm) looks and feels exactly like pre-exposed SR2000(tm).
In other words, prior to development, you will feel no tack
at all. Since SR3000(tm) is not a "self-adhesive"
film, there is no layer of adhesive to wash off. The film
becomes tacky after wash out, but not gummy.
Once you have washed out your image, blot off the excess water
and allow drying in the normal way. You then apply the resist
in the normal manner..
WHATS SO GOOD ABOUT SR3000(tm) SELF-STICK
RESIST
There are two main advantages in using the SR3000(tm) Self-Stick
Resist. First it eliminates the adhesive application process.
Whilst adhesive application doesn't actually take much time,
the set up to do so can be an inconvenience for some people.
Second, some people have trouble getting the adhesive layer
consistently thin and even. When you don't get an even coating
of adhesive, you run the risk of un-even etching and difficult
thick spots that are harder to blast through. Applying adhesive
in an uneven manner results in poor quality work and even
ruining the job. Since SR3000(tm) eliminates this process;
results are completely consistent with every use.
The top Sand Blasters in Australia all agree that SR3000(tm)
Self Stick is the best and easiest to use resist available.
Unlike other brands of self adhesive there is no annoying
clear cover sheet on an adhesive layer to contend with with
SR3000(tm) Self Stick You just expose and wash out.
WHAT MAKES SELF STICKING RESIST BETTER
THAN SELF ADHESIVE RESIST
The main advantage SR3000(tm) Self-Stick resist has over competing
"self-adhesive" film is that there is no adhesive!
With "self adhesive" resist films, the adhesive
has been sprayed onto the surface and then covered over with
some type of plastic cover sheet. So after exposure you need
to peel away the protective cover exposing the layer of sprayed
on self adhesive. This causes handling concerns. First, you
have to peel off the clear cover sheet after exposure and
before wash out to get to the wash out layer then you have
to use caution when handling the adhesive layer with your
fingers. The natural oils on your fingers can diminish the
tack of the adhesive coating. You will also have to wash out
your image effectively without over washing the film, further
diminishing the tack of the applied adhesive. If you do those
things successfully, beware not to allow sheets to touch each
other during the drying process (a hurdle for production users)
and thus ruining your sheet. Any diminish in tack due to the
above will weaken the bond of the mask to the product you
intend to blast. There is also the risk that tiny bits of
adhesive remain in fine detailed areas or corners of the image
causing blockages. With SR3000(tm) Self Sticking Resist it's
really simple, just expose and washout (no cover sheet to
contend with). In addition, cleaning up SR3000(tm) is much
faster and easier because there is no stubborn adhesive residue
to contend with. With SR3000(tm), none of these obstacles
are a factor; saving you both time and money.
Description/Application -
User friendly SR3000 is a high-resolution photo resist
with an inherent self sticking quality enabling etshers to
achieve the finest detail and deepest etch in the sand blasting
industry. SR3000 will turn any black and white design
into a sandcarving stencil. It provides an ideal system for
creating fine quality engraving on endless varieties of glass,
wood, stone, ceramic, granite, marble, and soft metals. From
exposing to blasting, carvers are able to get it done faster
and more efficiently then ever before.
Low Cost -
Prices typically range from 8-11 cents per square inch.
Exposure Time -
20 - 40 seconds, 3-6 mil.
Room Lighting -
No darkroom or yellow lighting needed. SR3000 photo
resist film can be handled in white fluorescent lighting for
approximately ten minutes without effecting the performance
of the film. Avoid any room or area that has direct or indirect
U.V. light such open windows or doors. Sun light will expose
the film in a matter of seconds.
Fast Development -
From wash out to dry time, SR3000 will cut your production
time significantly. Standard washout times begin at 20-40
seconds, depending on the mil.
100% Humid RESISTant -
Special treatment eliminates "sticky film" problems
conducive to humid environments. No struggling with exposure,
application, or clean up. All mils air dry within 20-40 minutes.
Or in minutes with applied drying processes.
Durability -
SR3000 has unmatched blast resilient properties superior
to any photo resist in the industry. Blast high resolution
designs without the worry of pin hole blast through or carrier
release bubbling.
High Productivity -
Rayzist® photo resists apply and clean up faster and easier,
saving up to 1/3 of total labor* over any other photo resist
material.
Mils -
SR3000 comes in 3& 5 mil thicknesses.
Requirements -
To use SR3000 photo resist film, you will need a U.V.
light source, film tool, pressurized washout unit (such as
a Rayzist® Hand Washer or Automatic Washout Unit).
Shelf Life -
Conservatively, 14 months at room temperature.
Material Chosen and Why -
SR3000 Self Sticking photo resist film satisfies
all levels of production with extremely fast exposure times,
quick wash out, easy application, superior durability, finer
detail, unmatched depth and fast clean up... without the need
for special yellow lighting, resist removers, or any other
added expense.
