The Automation That Made the AutoBlaster Different Is Still There

While the new hardware improvements are important, ABRA has retained the intelligent automation that made the CNC AutoBlaster such an effective production machine in the first place.

Fully Automatic Abrasive Refill

The operator doesn't have to continually stop the machine and refill the pressure pot.

The AutoBlaster monitors the abrasive level automatically.

If the pressure pot runs low during a job, the machine can stop, refill the pot with recovered abrasive and then continue blasting from where it stopped.

This allows long blasting jobs to continue with minimal operator involvement.

Automatic Abrasive Recovery and Separation

Used abrasive is recovered directly through the vacuum blasting head.

The system separates reusable abrasive from the fine dust generated during blasting, allowing good abrasive to be returned to the system.

This means less wasted abrasive and helps maintain effective cutting performance.

Automatic Filter Cleaning

The AutoBlaster also automatically cleans its filtration system.

Keeping the filter clean maintains extraction performance and reduces one of the messy maintenance jobs traditionally associated with sandblasting equipment.

Intelligent Abrasive and Air Control

The abrasive metering system automatically regulates the relationship between compressed air and abrasive.

This removes the need for the operator to continually adjust the abrasive mixture manually and helps maintain consistent blasting performance as operating conditions change.

Blast Only Where You Need to Blast

Rather than moving continuously across the entire surface, the AutoBlaster can be programmed to blast defined areas.

Multiple blasting fields can be created so the blasting head concentrates on the areas containing lettering, graphics or other engraving.

That means less unnecessary movement, reduced blasting time and more efficient abrasive use.

Control Your Engraving Depth

Multiple passes can be programmed to achieve the required engraving depth.

Instead of relying on an operator to judge how long an area has been blasted, the CNC system provides a repeatable process.

This is particularly valuable for businesses producing memorials, stone signage and other work where consistency is important.

Z-Axis Control for Uneven Surfaces

Not every stone or workpiece is perfectly level.

The AutoBlaster's numerically controlled Z axis allows the blasting head to compensate for differences in surface height.

This makes it possible to automatically blast surfaces that are uneven, tapered or positioned at an angle while maintaining the required relationship between the blasting head and the work surface.

Up to 1200 × 1200mm Blasting Area

With a blasting area of up to 1200 × 1200mm, the AutoBlaster can handle substantial stone, glass and metal engraving projects.

Despite its capabilities, the system has been designed to occupy a relatively compact production footprint.

What Does All This Mean for a Sandblasting Business?

The purpose of the AutoBlaster isn't simply to automate a sandblasting nozzle.

It is about changing how labour is used.

Once a job has been prepared and the blasting fields programmed, the machine can perform the repetitive blasting work while the operator moves on to another productive task – preparing the next mask, designing another job, applying PhotoMask or completing other production work.

ABRA states that a traditional stone plaque can typically be blasted in approximately 10–15 minutes, depending on the number of elements and required engraving depth.

During those 10–15 minutes, your skilled operator doesn't have to stand there holding a blasting nozzle.

That is where CNC automation can make a substantial difference to production.

Cleaner, More Consistent Sandblasting

The vacuum blasting head captures abrasive and dust at the point of blasting.

This provides a much cleaner working environment than conventional open blasting and removes much of the physical work associated with manually blasting larger jobs.

Combine that with automated abrasive recovery, filtration, pressure-pot refilling and CNC-controlled movement and you have a sandblasting system designed around production rather than simply blasting.

The 2026 AutoBlaster – Evolution Rather Than Reinvention

Perhaps the most important thing about the new CNC AutoBlaster is that ABRA hasn't changed the principle that made the original machine successful.

Instead, it has concentrated on improving the areas that matter in everyday production:

  • More blasting performance
  • Better extraction
  • Stronger mechanical construction
  • Better protection of moving components
  • Fewer wearing parts
  • Easier nozzle replacement
  • Simpler maintenance
  • Improved control

The result is a more refined version of an already highly automated sandblasting system.

For businesses engraving stone, memorials, glass, bricks, pavers, metal and other blastable materials, the latest ABRA CNC AutoBlaster offers an opportunity to automate one of the most repetitive and labour-intensive stages of production.

Already Own an Earlier CNC AutoBlaster?

There is also good news for existing AutoBlaster owners.

Some of the improvements developed for the latest machine can be retrofitted to earlier AutoBlasters, including the new Venturi blasting head.

This allows existing owners to benefit from newer technology without necessarily replacing their complete AutoBlaster.
